Characterization Studies

There are several phases needed in the planning and execution of characterization studies

a. Phase I
Proceeds with the planning and implementation of several Phase I Évaluations environnementales de site (ÉES) on residential, commercial and industrial properties. This is completed under two current regulations : the Politique de protection des sols et de réhabilitation des terrains contaminés and Loi 72

b. Phase II
Phase II works need a certain experience level to be completed. The costs of this phase vary depending on a number of factors.
- Proceed to the analysis of available information with an evaluation of the property’s constraints.
- Designs characterization plans taking into account the applicable regulations of the study site

c. Phase III
This phase is important to determine more precisely the volume of contaminated soil/water to manage.
- Complementary studies allowing a more accurate depiction of the nature and specification of contaminants

The last step in this process is to remove the environmental liability by extracting or treating contaminants. This entails the following:

a. Rehabilitation Plan

- Design the rehabilitation plan under the applicable regulation (Policy or Law 72)
- Assistance for the plan approval with the ministère de l’Environnement (MDDELCC)

b. Rehabilitation Plan Implementation

- Guide the process at each step
- Rehabilitation attainment objective
- Follow-up and file closure
